Classic Walks in Britain

Classic Walks in Britain

by: various contributors
This book describes 211 walks covering the whole of England, Wales and Scotland. It is an ideal reference book if you enjoy travelling to different regions of the country and exploring on foot. Wherever you find yourself there is likely to be a walk in this book which will let you discover the best local countryside features.
Each walk is shown on an illustrated colour map. Many of these will stand up to being used alone to navigate your way around the walk and the book is especially designed for you to use in this way. However, some detail is lost due to restrictions imposed by the scale and particularly in upland areas we recommend you also carry an Ordnance Survey map. Each walk has an information panel giving distance, total ascent, terrain, gradients, conditions under foot and parking. Refreshment places are also given where available. The walks have been graded 1, 2 or 3 to give an indication of their difficulty. Route finding instructions are provided as numbered paragraphs with corresponding numbers shown on the map, making it easy to see your position. The walks are organised into regions each with an introductory section. There is an index and walk location map to easily find walks in a particular area.
