Greensand Way

Greensand Way - Circular Walks

Greensand Way - Circular Walks

by: Kent CC
The Greensand Way is a long distance path extending for 108 miles from Haslemere in Surrey to Hamstreet in Kent. The route takes the walker along paths which in many places give unparalleled views across the Weald to the south. At many places there are extensive views towards the North Downs. Frequently, the route leads through quiet, almost remote areas. Much of the land is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the stretch from Hindhead to Leith Hill is part of the Surrey Hills AONB, and the Severnoaks ridge, from the Surrey-Kent border to Borough Green, is included in the Kent Downs AONB.
This guide provides an overview of the many walking opportunities to be enjoyed along the Greensand Way, describing the landscape features and places of interest both in words and in splendid colour photography. It does not give a route description to the complete Greensand Way but includes 6 circular walks which include sections of the Way chosen to reflect its variety of countryside. For anyone contemplating walking the entire route, these 'sampler' walks are a good starting point. The 6 walks include OS Explorer mapping with the route highlighted.
The walk locations are: Westerham; Ide Hill; Sevenoaks; Shipbourne; Linton; Egerton.
