South East Wales Children's Trails Guidebook

South East Wales Children's Trails Guidebook

by: Rebecca Lees
This book starts out with the premise - it's not a walk, it's an adventure! It is a collection of 20 family walks in a beautiful landscape celebrating the 'Year of Adventure in Wales'. With Wales on the map as the place to visit, the book has something for all abilities and ages, from simple Sunday strolls to island adventures and walks in the woods.

With the aim of encouraging families to get out into the fresh air and explore the countryside together, this collection of trails includes easy walks suitable for pushchairs as well as more strenuous routes for adventurous older children. The really brave can try a spooky tunnel trail along a disused railway line, whilst there's not just one but two ways to climb south Wales' highest mountain.

With hidden villages and sleeping giants to look out for as you go, these trails bring to life the castles, legends and hidden corners of South Wales' sweeping valleys and stunning coastline.

Each route includes a box giving distance, estimated time, starting point with grid reference, grading, suggested minimum child age and OS map sheet references. The walk entries begin with an overview description of features and ground conditions. This is followed by detailed route finding instructions, including a sketch map. There are also some black and white photographs.
