Walking Close to Blandford Forum Guidebook

Walking Close to Blandford Forum Guidebook

by: Clive Brown
This local walking guide booklet describes ten varied and interesting circular walks in the countryside around Blandford Forum. Distances vary from 4 to 7 miles and there are detailed route finding instructions and clear pencil drawn sketch maps.

Blandford Forum is noted for its handsome Georgian red brick and stone town centre and its grand church of St Peter and St Paul. It owes this fine architecture to a devastating fire in 1731 which destroyed most of the previous buildings and necessitated the Georgian development. The town is set in a rich dairy and arable farming area, and is close to the beautiful River Stour.

The walk locations are:
Pimperne Long Barrow - 5 miles
Tarrant Gunville and Eastbury Park - 4.75 miles
Sturminster Newton and Piddles Wood - 5.25 miles
