Walking Close to Melton Mowbray Guidebook

Walking Close to Melton Mowbray Guidebook

by: Clive Brown
One of a range of 'no frills' local walking guide booklets which admirably achieve their objective of getting you out in the countryside amongst beautiful scenery on carefully chosen routes full of interest. The directions are clear and precise and the pencil drawn sketch maps are particularly attractive as well as practical.

This guide describes ten varied and interesting circular walks in Leicestershire close to the town of Melton Mowbray. Distances vary from four to nine miles. The town is synonymous with pork pies and Stilton cheese. Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe on Nottingham Street, where you can watch a demonstration of traditional hand raising craftsmanship has made pies since 1851. Stilton cheese is believed to have first been produced in Little Dalby Hall in the early years of the 18th century. Frances Pawlett began making Stilton in Wymondham a few years later.
