Walking Close to Milton Keynes Guidebook

Walking Close to Milton Keynes Guidebook

by: Clive Brown
One of a range of 'no frills' local walking guide booklets which admirably achieve their objective of getting you out in the countryside amongst beautiful scenery on carefully chosen routes full of interest. The directions are clear and precise and the pencil drawn sketch maps are particularly attractive as well as practical.

This guide describes ten varied and interesting circular walks in Buckinghamshire close to the River Great Ouse between Olney, Stoke Bruerne and Milton Keynes. The walks are mainly between 5 and 7 miles in length. The Borough of Milton Keynes was created in 1967 from the three towns of Wolverton, Stony Stratford and Bletchley, all now effectively no more than suburbs of the new creation. The name comes from the original village of Milton Keynes which still retains most of its rural charm.

The walk locations are:
Old Stratford, Haversham and Old Stratford Cut - 7.25 miles
Moulsoe and Moulsoe Old Wood - 6.25 miles
Stoke Goldington and Salcey Green - 6.5 miles
Newport Pagnell and Lathbury Park - 5 miles
Castlethorpe and Cosgrove - 7.5 miles
Olney and Kilwick Wood - 6.5 miles
Chicheley and North Crawley - 7 miles
Emberton and Heron Water - 5 miles
Hanslope and Huntgate End - 5.25 miles
Bedlam and Sherington - 4.5 miles
