Walking in the Brecon Beacons Guidebook

The Brecon Beacons National Park stretches from the English border to the Tywi valley in Carmarthenshire, a distance of nearly fifty miles covering an area of 520 square miles. This swathe of southern Wales is divided into four distinct areas of high ground by the rivers Usk, Taf and Tawe. These rivers, here in their enthusiastic infancy, descend to meet the salt water of the Bristol Channel. This book covers the central and western areas of the National Park.

The twenty walks vary in length from 3 to 10 miles. Each walk entry begins with a short overview description giving an indication of difficulty and features plus the starting point including grid reference. Detailed route finding instructions follow in numbered paragraphs relating to numbered points on an associated sketch map. There is a summary table of the walks which gives starting place, distance, grade, time, facilities on route and any links to other walks.

Woods and Waterfalls of Blaen-y-Glyn - 2 miles
Torpantau and Fan y Big - 8 miles
Llangatwg Quarries and Craig y Cilau - 6 miles
