Cotswold Ring

Cotswold Ring

by: Christopher Knowles
The Cotswold Ring guidebook is a very old publication, but we still offer it because it is a wonderful route taking in much of the best of the northern Cotswolds, offering plenty of contrast, interest and variety. It makes use of public rights of way and established long distance paths, so although there will be local changes on the ground the route is still basically correct. Providing you also carry Ordnance Survey Explorer maps a reasonably experienced walker should have no problems with navigation.

The guide gives detailed instructions of the route and includes simple sketch maps to give an overview. The Cotswold Ring is a circular route of 55 miles beginning at Cheltenham. The guide suggests a recommended itinerary taking 6 days as follows:

Cheltenham to Winchcombe - 8.5 miles
Winchcombe to Broadway - 10.5 miles
Broadway to Chipping Campden - 4.5 miles
Chipping Campden to Moreton-in-Marsh - 8 miles
Moreton-in-Marsh to Bourton-on-the-Water - 12 miles
Bourton-on-the-Water to Cheltenham - 13.25 miles

The above itinerary, by linking the main towns along the route ensures a good choice of overnight accommodation. Of course, longer or shorter options can be devised, or the route tackled as day walks taken at different times. Click the link below the 'Add to Cart' button for an overview map of the route.
