Joining the Seas - A Yorkshireman's Coast to Coast Walking Guidebook

Joining the Seas - A Yorkshireman's Coast to Coast Walking Guidebook

author: Peter Stubbs
An alternative to Wainwright's iconic Coast-to-Coast walk, this 150-mile trek across northern England focuses on some of the historic towns and villages, ruined abbeys, and stunning landscape features of Yorkshire. Beginning at Whitby the walk traverses the North York Moors, the Vale of York, the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Yorkshire Dales and the northern edge of the Forest of Bowland, before finishing with a short hop through Lancashire at its narrowest point to reach Morecambe on the west coast.

The walk has been divided into seventeen stages, varying in length from less than four to around 15 miles that can be combined to suit individual circumstances. Each stage has detailed navigation instructions and a clear sketch map outlining the route. Interspersed with this text is background information about the history of places, people, and features of interest along the way. This background information is printed in italics to easily distinguish it from route finding text. There are numerous black and white photograph throughout the book. An accommodation list is also included.
