Walking Close to the Vale of Belvoir Guidebook

Walking Close to the Vale of Belvoir Guidebook

by: Clive Brown
One of a range of 'no frills' local walking guide booklets which admirably achieve their objective of getting you out in the countryside amongst beautiful scenery on carefully chosen routes full of interest. The directions are clear and precise and the pencil drawn sketch maps are particularly attractive as well as practical.

This guide describes ten varied and interesting circular walks in the Vale of Belvoir between Grantham and Nottingham. The walks are between 5 and 7 miles in length. The Vale of Belvoir is dominated by Belvoir Castle, the ancestral home of the Dukes of Rutland. A castle was built on the site soon after the Norman Conquest. The present castle, built in the romantic style, was completed in the 1820's.

The walk locations are:
Bottesford, Muston and Winter Beck - 7.5 miles
Kinoulton and the Grantham Canal - 6 miles
Harby and the Harby Hills - 6.75 miles
Waltham on the Wolds and Croxton Racecourse - 5.5 miles
