Walking on Gower Cicerone Guidebook

Walking on Gower Cicerone Guidebook

by: Andry Davies
Gower in South Wales is famous for its spectacular coastline and unspoilt beaches but the inland hills and ridges are also rich in wildlife, striking geology and archaeological and historical sites. The whole peninsula is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Just 25km by 13km, Gower packs in a glittering array of interesting features and all are easily accessible from Swansea, Mumbles or any of the other villages on the peninsula where you might want to base yourself. Despite its small area the Gower offers a huge range of walking including the famous coastline with long stretches of golden sand, towering cliffs, bird-filled saltmarshes and hidden coves, not forgetting there is plenty of interest inland.

The 30 day routes described in this guide cover lesser-known areas in all corners of this popular holiday destination, suitable for a wide range of walkers. Distances are from 2.5 miles up to 14 miles and there are clear route directions and OS 1:50,000 map extracts. Many routes follow a section of coast path to visit a secluded cove or wide beach, before climbing a ridge for panoramic views or leading up into a tranquil stream valley. There is plenty of information along the way on Gower's rich points of interest together with stunning colour photographs.
