The beautiful Llangollen Canal, one of the most popular canals in Britain, run from Horseshoe Falls in Denbighshire across Shropshire to the junction of the Shropshire Union Canal in Cheshire. It contains stunning engineering structures, with its first eleven miles now a UNESCO World Heritage Site lying within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This book explores the canal, its history and varied adjoining countryside. It contains 29 circular walks plus nine linear walks linked to local buses and a heritage railway and includes the connecting restored and scenic Montgomery Canal.

Walk across the famous Pontcysyllte and Chirk aqueducts, through tunnels, past marinas, lift bridges and locks. Visit lakes and rare raised mosses, country parks, nature reserves, old churches, castles, a medieval abbey and an ancient healing well. Enjoy the canal's tranquillity, flora and wildlife, the passing narrowboats, tea-rooms and canal-side and country pubs.

Each of the walks in the book begins with a side panel giving practical information. This includes a summary description of the walks features and character, distance and estimated time, plus instruction on how to reach the start. The detailed route finding instruction which follow are given in numbered paragraphs, and these numbers are shown on the accompanying sketch map to assist with easy navigation. There is also a summary table showing all the walks.
