Shropshire Year Round Walks Guidebook

Shropshire Year Round Walks Guidebook

author: Judy Smith
This pocket-sized walking guide contains 20 circular routes, covering the very best of Shropshire's wide-ranging landscape - from high in the Shropshire Hills down to glorious woodland and wildlife-rich mosses, through historical towns and villages and along meandering waterways. Walks range in length from 2.5 to 8 miles, with recommendations for autumn, winter, spring, and summer. Highlights include:
Spring: A sea of bluebells in Sallow Coppice and Clun, and a riot of rhododendrons in Burwarton.
Summer: Blazing heather on Stiperstones and magnificent views from Ragleth Hill and Titterstone Clee Hill.
Autumn: Collecting sweet chestnuts at Comer Woods and foraging for fungi at Whixall Moss. A mile of blazing beech trees at Lydham.
Winter: A valley filled with snowdrops at Cound, and water and wildfowl at Chelmarsh.

Each walk entry begins with a paragraph or two describing the highlights of the walk. This is followed by practical information including how to get there and parking with satnav location, OS Explorer map sheet reference, terrain details and top pub recommendations. The full route description which follows is in numbered paragraphs referenced to a detailed colour sketch map. The book is printed in full colour including a photograph for each walk.
